Karen is a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and a member of the EMDR Association UK and Ireland who works in Gloucestershire, England and via the internet.
Initially trained in London and with a Masters degree in Integrative Psychotherapy, Karen has over 14 years clinical experience working with individuals and groups, during which time she has developed an approach integrating Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing ®, EMDR and Brainspotting. She also works with the arts therapeutically.
Karen’s special interest is in helping clients find relief and recovery from the symptoms of trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome/Disorder (PTSS/PTSD). Her clinical experience includes six years as a member of London Underground’s Counselling and Trauma Service, and the role of Clinical Lead at Khiron House Trauma Recovery Centre. Karen has worked with ex British Military and special services personnel, London Underground’s train drivers, Police Officers and Paramedics, in addition to many members of the general public.
Karen offers assessment and treatment for individuals and organisations delivered within a professional and welcoming environment. Karen has provided services for the NHS, is a registered provider for Aviva and Vitality Health Insurance, and consults for Occupational Health at Gloucestershire County Council. Her consulting room is in a village location in Gloucestershire that has proved easily accessible for clients from Cirencester, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Moreton-on-Marsh and Northleach, Oxford, Swindon and Witney.
When Karen isn’t working, her passion for both art and nature finds her either in a gallery or in her garden. Karen writes poetry, is learning to play the Gong as a healing instrument, and lives in the Cotswolds with her Canine Assistants. And just like other people she occasionally surfs the hidden dimensions of the sofa.
